Delete a Cluster

    +
Deleting a cluster securely deletes all cluster data.

    Prerequisites

    Permissions Required
You must have the Project Owner or Cluster Manager role for the project that contains the cluster you want to delete.

    Procedure

    Couchbase’s Cloud Account

    • Deleting a cluster deletes all of its cluster data.

    • Deleting a cluster deletes its cluster backups.

    • Deleting a cluster is a permanent action and cannot be reversed.

To delete a Couchbase Capella cluster hosted by Couchbase:

    1. Go to the Clusters tab in the main navigation, and find the cluster you want to delete.

You can also find a cluster by navigating to the Projects tab in the main navigation and clicking on the project that contains the cluster in question.

    2. Still in the Clusters tab, click the Trash icon on the same row as the cluster you want to delete.

This action opens the Delete Cluster flyout. Review the cluster name at the top of the flyout to verify that the correct cluster is selected.

    3. In the Delete Cluster flyout, type delete.

    4. Click Confirm.

Once you delete a cluster, it is queued for automatic deletion and will remain visible with the Destroying status. This process can take up to 15 minutes. Once complete, the cluster is removed entirely.

    Own Cloud Account

    • Deleting a cluster deletes all of its cluster data.

    • Deleting a cluster is a permanent action and cannot be reversed.

Cluster backups for clusters hosted in your own cloud account are not deleted when a cluster is deleted. A cluster’s backups will continue to be stored in the connected cloud VPC in your cloud provider according to the backup policy that was in place when the cluster was deleted, or until the connected cloud is deleted.

For more information, refer to Backup and Restore Cluster Data and Settings.

This information is for anyone still using Couchbase Server 6.6, hosted in their own cloud provider’s VPC. It does not apply to Couchbase 7.0, hosted in Couchbase’s VPC and fully managed for you.

    For further information contact Couchbase.

The easiest way to get started with Capella, our fully managed DBaaS, is hosting in Couchbase’s Cloud.
