The various states of a transaction attempt.

| ABORTED | The transaction has been aborted. |
| COMMITTED | The transaction has been completed. |
| COMPLETED | The transaction has been completed and the metadata cleaned up. |
| NOTHING_WRITTEN | Nothing has been written yet. |
| PENDING | Mutations are pending. |
| ROLLED_BACK | The transaction was rolled back. |
| UNKNOWN | The transaction is in an unknown state. |
